ESG ratings

In addition to financial ratings, analyses and assessments of environmental, social and governance factors and indicators are also carried out by independent rating agencies in the form of ESG ratings. Due to the increasing demand for our sustainability initiatives and the need for an external, objective assessment thereof, proactive participation in sustainability ratings is essential. STRABAG can currently present the following rating results.

Certificates

To help manage its activities in the individual subject areas – from environmental and energy management to health, safety and wellbeing to business compliance and anti-corruption – and to assess compliance with internal and external standards, STRABAG maintains an integrated management system, the effectiveness of which is regularly reviewed through internal and external audits. This system has been awarded the following certifications, among others.

ISO 14001 and EMAS
Around 93 % of STRABAG’s entities are certified to ISO 14001 or EMAS. Environmental officers and specialists from the STRABAG environmental and energy management teams ensure that a continuous improvement process is maintained and that compliance with environmental standards at our office locations and construction sites is monitored, documented and verified through standardised audits.

ISO 50001
ISO 50001 certification demonstrates compliance of STRABAG’s energy management system with applicable standards. In 2023, ISO 50001 was rolled out in corporate entities that together are responsible for around 77% of the Group’s output volume. The aim is to expand the ISO 50001 certification of corporate entities in order to manage and optimise our energy consumption. Entities representing a further 6% of the output are covered by local energy management measures and audits.

ISO 45001
Almost all STRABAG Group companies are certified to ISO 45001, the international standard for occupational health and safety, and regularly submit to both internal and external audits. The principles of occupational health and safety and their implementation are set out in STRABAG’s health and safety policy and apply to all employees within the Group as well as to contracted external companies.

ISO 37001 and ISO 37301
Since 2023, all STRABAG companies worldwide with a shareholding of more than 50% have been certified to ISO 37001 (anti-bribery management systems) and ISO 37301 (business compliance management systems) and can provide evidence of an established and functioning compliance management system to customers, financial institutions, authorities and other stakeholders. STRABAG is the first globally active Austrian group to receive this type of overall certification.
