Utilizing potential along the supply chain

Reducing emissions and implementing circular measures in our own business activities are key factors for achieving the goals of our Strategy 2040. Yet a large proportion of negative environmental impacts occur further along the value chain. This means, however, that there is enormous potential here for reducing emissions and promoting a circular economy.

Scope 3 emissions account for a major part of our total emissions. Within the upstream value chain, the bulk of emissions are attributable to purchased goods and services. Our aim is therefore to promote the purchase of decarbonised and circular materials, goods and services and to work with our suppliers to continuously improve the sustainability of our supply chain.

Around half of emissions are generated along the downstream supply chain. These emissions generally occur during the use phase of buildings and structures. It is therefore essential to take an end-to-end view of buildings in their sustainability assessment.
