Social responsibility as part of the ESG strategy
Another part of ESG is social responsibility, which focuses on the social aspects of sustainability and our responsibility towards people and society. As an international construction group, we are committed to protecting human rights within our sphere of influence and are concerned with how we impact society through our business activities.
This pertains to the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees and to equality, diversity and inclusion within the Group. Through our range of construction services, we also contribute to infrastructure expansion and job creation, including in structurally weak regions. Inclusive and sustainable construction methods contribute to the wellbeing of those who use our buildings and structures.
At the same time, the small scale and complex nature of supply and value chains in STRABAG’s field of activity give rise to risks in the area of social sustainability that we must address proactively. For this reason, we focus especially on creating transparency and raising awareness among our suppliers with regard to the protection of human rights.
The aforementioned focal points of STRABAG’s social responsibility enable us to create added value for society. Our Strategy 2030 also reflects these social concerns with its focus on "People" as one of three core areas.
